A friend of mine just got a pool fence las vegas I think may require them. They really are a good thing to have since children are so creative and slick when it comes to doing what they want. I can't remember the specifics but they gave some statistics about how many children's lives it can save, so I'm glad she got it.

I am so blessed that I was able to quit my job last year to stay home with my children. I run a small home based business now, and have more time than I ever dreamed possible to spend with my children. I know it’s not a decision for everyone, but it’s absolutely the correct decision for my family. My husband and I struggled with the decision for months. The financial aspect was difficult to figure out, as it is with many families in our situation. The logisticswere actually just as hard if not harder to work out, though. Surprisingly, the most difficult component to handle was the home internet connection. Since we live in a very rural location, we have very few options when it comes to internet access! Have you seen the otterbox iphone 4 ? Man I think IPhones are so cool, but they are expensive and I just can't come up with a good enough reason to convince my husband to let me have one, especially since we are both retired and really don't even go anywhere. I have to keep thinking....I need one! If I were still working I could easily come up with something he would buy into, but not now.

I can't seem to figure out if my dad really smokes cigars or not? I actually haven't seen him smoke any, but for every occasion when you ask him what he wants he comes up with the name of a cigar. My one brother in law got him a big humidor (or whatever it is called) and this year he says he wants some alec bradley cigars? Well, if that's what he wants, that's what he'll get.

Businesses that need money many times have a really difficult time getting it. Well, I can across a site that does merchant funding based on a businesses actual sales rather than credit rating. I could see where this would benefit many people. It looks like you just tell them your monthly sales (and I would assume verify it), they loan you the money you need and then they get their payment from a percentage of your sales. It looks like a good option for a small business that needs some cash.

I told you guys I bought some medical carts for my home. I love them but now I see they have actual computer carts . I use the two other carts for thing like my art supplies, etc. It works out really well. I'm not sure if I really need a computer cart. My husband on the other hand feels it would be better. I may have to order one just to see the difference in them.

Only three months to go

That's right, there is only three months to go before my niece has her baby. We were all a little disappointed when we found out she was pregnant, because she was supposed to be in college. But, you know what? Stuff happens but she and her boyfriend are very happy. I wanted to buy her something special for the big event so I was thinking that since before she was pregnant she jogged all the time that a baby jogger stroller would be a great gift and one that I don't think anyone else will think of. Now I'm excited because I know she will love it!

Since my son's friend got me thinking about Valentine's Day gifts, my head always goes to personalized things. For this holiday in particular I think it makes sense. It's amazing when you think about how many gift giving occasions there are. Not that I'm complaining, I love buying people gifts especially when I have the extra cash. Anyway, I am so bad at keeping up with the holidays. My son's friend called me the other day asking my advice on what to buy his wife. I told him, "whoa, I need to worry about what to buy my husband more than ideas for valentine's day for your wife ." I hope he finds something good so I didn't really blow him off, but I am actually glad he called so I can think about what I am going to do.

When my oldest son was a teen, he got a job in a nursing home. At the time, we really had to encourage him to do it. However after a couple of years it seemed he was really liking it. So, when he went to college he decided that he would become a nurse because of the high job demand and the good pay. He actually turned out to be a natural when it came to medical help. I'm so glad he went that direction in life.

Scrubs can be hard to find

It's true. Even though just about everyone sells scrubs, most that are out there are sized for women. My son is a nurse and he is always on the lookout for scrubs that will fit him. Part of his problem is that he is seven feet tall. The pants are too short which is not hard to fix with some extra material, but short shirts are really hard to deal with. I have to say I found some Marcus scrub tops and they looked like really good quality and they had his size!!

Wow, my exhibition in Moscow is now behind me and it turned out wonderful. Several Russian art critics wrote great things about my three pieces! I'm so happy I just had to share it with all of you.

I really love it when our family goes camping. But we don't' really go all that often anymore. I want to change that and get us to start going camping again. I've never been camping during the winter though, which I think could be really fun.

At first my family wasn't too keen on going camping when it's cold, but then I looked up some info on it and shared it with them. I also found some info on debt settlement family, which would really come in handy for our family. We're in debt and I made a promise to myself to get us out of it soon, so I'm going to use that to help us settle our debts.

After a little bit of convincing, my kids decided that it actually would be a good time to go camping again. I think that we're going to try and start doing more free or low-budget family activities as part of bonding. It's been such a long time since I've been camping in the winter, so it should be a real adventure!

I just called a dentist and asked about prices! Holy crap dentists are expensive!!!! He said it was $180 dollars for an extraction and $1200 for a crown. How are people supposed to take care of their mouths at these prices??? I will have to go with the extraction, but thank God it is a molar in the back that broke.

I recently broke a tooth and now I have to go. I bought some crap that is supposed to fill it temporarily but it won't stay in. Oh well, I guess I just have to suck it up and go. I know everyone thinks I'm really tough. I guess I probably put on that personna for those around me. But, I do have one horrible fear and it is the dentist. I don't know if its because of a bad experience when I was young or if its the fact that Novacaine doesn't seem to work on me (even though not one dentist has ever believed me). So, if I find someone with a good reputation, trust me, I follow up on it. I've only been in this town for a few years, so I don't know anyone. Guess I'll have to just take my chances.

Hurricane windows and Sunroom by Window King

It’s been a long time coming but we finally committed to getting a sunroom built. I’ve wanted it forever, but on the few times we got estimates it was way out of our price range.

Well we also wanted to get our windows replaced with hurricane windows. After many estimates and annoying salespeople, we hired a company called Window King. The price seemed reasonable for their strongest windows and when they came and installed them, they did a great job. They were neat, fast and we were really impressed.

So, we asked about a sunroom. We ended up contracting them to do it, albeit after a little haggling over the price, we are so happy that we did. Their product is simply great! We now have a beautiful 14 x 18 room that I love! We thought the price was good compared to all the other estimates. For under $18k we now have a bright, all weather room where we can hang out during the winter or summer and be comfortable. We should have done this long ago, especially since we are smokers and do not smoke in our house. Check out the video of our project:

I originally moved to Salt Lake City in 2001 because I worked for one of the companies that helped construct the Olympic Village for the 2002 Olympics. I wasn’t too psyched about moving there since I am a native Floridian and I was terrified to experience a Utah winter. Little did I know that I would love it here and become an avid skier. I stayed in my first little apartment for way too long. Even though I was promoted at work several times, I just stayed in my tiny apartment because I didn’t want to have to deal with the craziness of moving. I finally decided a few months ago that I was going to move and found a bigger, nicer place. I started making all of the preparations like finding movers and Salt Lake City wireless internet, when my boss informed me that he would need me back in Florida. I was so upset that I didn’t know what to do. I worked really hard to make a life for myself in Salt Lake. Luckily, I spoke to my boss about it and he sent one of my coworkers instead. It’s a good thing I have some seniority now because if not for that I would have been packing my bags by now.

New office set up

I love having a nice home office. I know, I know I am retired, but I still do a lot of things and having an office helps me keep things organized and taken care of in a timely fashion. I guess it's because if your office has a business like feel to it, you feel like you are at work and the work needs done.

My office is looking a bit old and worn out. However, it is Christmas time! Yay! Hmm, this means I can get a lot of things replaced by others. I like that....lol. Seriously it at least gives me something to tell others when they ask what I want. So, here's my list:

The last one is a biggie so I'll ask my husband for that one.

Coupons are the in thing

Believe it or not, I used to be dead against clipping coupons. I thought it was foolish and a big waste of time. However, times have changed and so have I. I subscribed to our local paper and I pick up all of the freebies I find around town and I sit watching tv clipping coupons . I’ve adjusted the way I shop and now found it fun and exciting to see how much money I can save myself!

Man, I am starting to get nervous. I currently work a temporary job that started about five years ago. I feel I have been very blessed but with all this talk about the budget and the government, I am afraid my number may be coming up. I have the GI bill so I guess if I'm out, I'll start school. I am thinking that if I study in the technical field maybe I can look at Application Development Jobs .
