Okay the holidays are just about over and all of my insurances come due in January. I hate it, but this year I hate it more than ever. Why? Because I live on the Gulf Coast and insurance has become a major problem. Now I don't live on the water, but I do live near the water and my insurance company sent me a letter stating that if I want flood coverage that I will have to buy a government policy and if I want wind coverage I have to join the windpool...which is unbelievably expensive. My other option is to take the risk and simply keep fire and burglary coverage on my house for a thousand dollars and pay my auto insurance which hasn't changed. We are seriously considering taking the risk...otherwise all of my insurances together will cost us over $12,000 a year!
