Today's news talked about a Golden, Colorado couple living in a town home condominium that are no longer allowed to smoke inside their own home, or on their porch, or in their yard. A judge ruled in favor of their Homeowner's Association claiming that this was a nuisance. I am stunned. When will this invasion of privacy stop? I'm a smoker and I respect all public places when I smoke. I know non-smokers don't like it, so I try to distance myself from other people even if I am in the great outdoors, but when you come into my home, where I pay the mortgage and taxes, you've gone too far. That judge and the HOA obviously cannot see that if this is allowed many more invasions will follow and the rest are likely to affect them as well. I personally find people arguing annoying as well as children laughing too much, or kids running around in a restaurant and I could probably fill a book with all the things around me that I find a nuisance...but that is life. If something is totally outrageous I'll complain, but for the most part I figure live and let live. I think this is one of the scariest rulings coming out of a court to date.
